Touch Tours

Touch tours are guided experiences for blind and partially sighted audience members to explore sets, costumes, and props by touch to enhance their understanding and enjoyment of the performance.
What happens during a Touch Tour?

Before the performance begins, audience members are guided on the stage before the theater opens. They can touch and feel props, costumes, and set pieces, providing a tactile connection to the story. Often, the tour will include an introduction to the story, character introductions, and opportunities to ask questions to enrich their understanding of the event they are attending.

Performances with Touch Tours will also feature Audio Description services.

Who can participate in a Touch Tour?

Touch Tours are geared to people who are blind or partially sighted, as well as people with autisim or other social, cognitive, or physical challenges that create sensory sensitivities, and their companions - providing an inclusive experience for those who benefit from tactile and sensory engagement. Space permitting, we welcome anyone who wishes to participate in the tour.

When are Touch Tours offered?

Touch Tours are offered prior to the start of specific performances. The tour will convene in the Queens Theatre lobby 45 minutes before the start of the performance. A list of upcoming performances that offer Touch Tours can be found at the bottom of this page.
