Program

While the specific program will vary from location to location, every re:CREATION performance is a sensory experience not to be missed. Works range from the seminal silliness and youthful hilarity of Walklyndon, which fills the theater with peals of laughter, to delightful shadows coalescing into incredible images in Behind the Shadows. Bodies combine as one in Symbiosis. A surreal narrative emerges in the quintessentially Pilobolus breakthrough piece Untitled. Pieces such as Branches and The Ballad pair to remind us of the symbiotic relationship of humans to one another and to the flora and fauna of our shared planet.

From echoes of the Renaissance in the restrained classic On The Nature Of Things to the expansive dreamscape in the recently unveiled Noctuary, Pilobolus takes the audience on a journey through varied and fantastic dimensions.

In the classic Rushes, six characters navigate belonging, desperation, and relief, punctuated by surreal humor in a world where Jasque Tati meets Nikolai Gogol. The perception of time and memory are pushed in the daring quintet Thresh|Hold, where the labyrinthine mind of a young woman evokes love, loss, sacrifice and longing.

The male quartet Gnomen, celebrated as one of the most poignant and beloved Pilobolus dances, is a series of portraits ranging from the lyrical, kinetic, humorous, and ethereal.

re:CREATION may include the newly unveiled Tales From The Underworld and Duet ‘24. The former delves into the underworld, where daily Faustian bargains confront us with humor, longing, regret, and pleasure. The latter explores the beauty, tenderness, strength, and balance of the inevitable role reversals and reciprocity of the unfading bonds of love across generations.

re:CREATION combines wit, sensuality, and stunning physical acumen in a sensory-exploding performance sure to thrill and surprise audiences.

Step out of your comfort zone and into the theater where emotion, raw talent, and palpable energy come to life right before your eyes. It's a transformative experience that promises to engage, inspire, and leave you in awe.

“There was something so free and true about each dancer’s bursts of energy . . . It was a good kind of crazy.”
