OKRA DANCE COMPANY
OKRA DANCE Company’s mission is to enlighten and inspire audiences through culturally and historically diverse programs that weave together myriad world and folk rhythmic dances, and American and African American social and theatrical styles. We are a collective of accomplished professional performing artists-educators of African descent who use movement, music and oral stories to honor and celebrate community traditions and innovations.
OKRA is based in New York City and performs over 50 shows every year throughout the US for youth and multigenerational audiences at schools, libraries, museums, festivals, and theaters.
