The Ayazamana Dance Group (Long Island City) was founded in 1992 by Quito native Jose Rivera with the goal of allowing the community to have greater access to Ecuadorian culture through the art of dance. The company performs to different traditional rhythms of The Pacific Coast (La Costa), The Andes (La Sierra), and The Amazon (El Oriente) to showcase the richness and diversity that exists in this South American country. Dances are rooted in different community groups, celebrations, and traditions of Ecuadorian culture. Ayazamana has performed extensively throughout the NYC region. The word Ayazamana means "Rest of the Soul" in the Kichwa language. www.tradicionesdelecuador.com
RU Dance NY Ballroom School (Flushing) is led by Mr. Ru Bao, who graduated from Beijing Dance Academy University and became a professional dance teacher there. Mr. Ru won the highest Chinese Government Prize, the Chinese National Professional Latin Dance Championship, the Southeast Asian Professional Dance Championship and many other professional competitions. The school offers classes and competition training in world ballroom and Latin dance styles.
FANIKE! African Dance Troupe (Springfield Gardens) strives to perpetuate the survival of African and African Diaspora culture and arts through dance, music, percussion and song.
