The Ayazamana Dance Group (Long Island City) was founded in 1992 by Quito native Jose Rivera with the goal of allowing the community to have greater access to Ecuadorian culture through the art of dance. The company performs to different traditional rhythms of The Pacific Coast (La Costa), The Andes (La Sierra), and The Amazon (El Oriente) to showcase the richness and diversity that exists in this South American country. Dances are rooted in different community groups, celebrations, and traditions of Ecuadorian culture. Ayazamana has performed extensively throughout the NYC region. The word Ayazamana means "Rest of the Soul" in the Kichwa language. www.tradicionesdelecuador.com
