Ashta Nayika refers to the eight archetypal phases of the romantic heroine, as described in the time-honored Indian performing arts treatise, the Natya Shastra. These phases of the heroine will be explored on the stage of Queens Theatre in the Kuchipudi dance style by Neela Zareen, disciple of Guru Smt. Sadhana Paranji.
Join us for an afternoon of expressive dance performance to the accompaniment of a stellar Carnatic musical ensemble:
Nattuvangam – Guru Smt. Sadhana Paranji
Vocal – Samyukta Ranganathan
Mrudangam – Kabilan Jaganathan
Violin – Swetha Narasimhan
Flute – Visveshwar Nagarajan
This production is funded by the Queens Arts Fund Grant from the Queens Council on the Arts and organized by Neela Dance Academy, Inc.
