Following their lively, entertaining production of The Graduate, L.A. Theatre Works returns to Queens Theatre with Katori Hall’s internationally acclaimed play, The Mountaintop. On the evening of April 4, 1968, Martin Luther King Jr. was assassinated outside room 306 of The Lorraine Motel in Memphis. Winner of the prestigious Olivier Award for Best New Play, The Mountaintop imagines what may have transpired in the overnight hours between the legendary civil rights leader and a seemingly inconsequential hotel maid, giving us a glimpse into the human side of Martin Luther King Jr.

“2018 marks the fiftieth anniversary of Dr. King’s assassination. What better way to honor his memory than a loving, imaginative and provocative play about this towering figure by one of America’s most celebrated young playwrights? Katori Hall gives us an insightful look at the public and private man with candor, humor and a plot twist that will leave you breathless.”
