July 29-August 19, 2016

Every Friday from July 29 to August 19, Queens Theatre will present free outdoor screenings of some of the most remarkable performances from Lincoln Center in the Festival Lawn of Flushing Meadows Corona Park – right behind Queens Theatre. You are welcome to bring a blanket, beach chair and as many friends as you want to enjoy these historical performances. In case of inclement weather, the screenings will be held inside Queens Theatre, on the mainstage.

Our shuttle will be running between the Mets-Willets Point 7 train stop and Queens Theatre from 7pm to 8pm for each show. Service will resume at the end of the screening.

Schedule

Friday, July 29 - 8pm – The Nutcracker

Tschaikovsky’s iconic score transports audiences to a world of wonder where mischievous mice are foiled by toy soldiers come to life, and a blizzard of ballerinas reveals the enchanting Land of Sweets. George Balanchine’s The Nutcracker originated a beloved American tradition.

Friday, August 5 - 8pm – Show Boat

Show Boat tells the 40-year story of the lives of performers, stagehands, and dock workers who are the denizens of the Cotton Blossom, a Mississippi River show boat. The New Yorker noted that the show “was a radical departure in musical storytelling, marrying spectacle with seriousness”.

Friday, August 12 - 8pm – Richard Tucker 2015

Renée Fleming and 2015 Richard Tucker Award winner Jamie Barton are joined by Andrea Bocelli, Lawrence Brownlee and other great voices for one of the perennial highlights of the opera season.

Friday, August 19 - 8pm – Act One

Few have captured the magic of the theater better than Moss Hart, a poor kid from the Bronx who became a lion of Broadway. Now James Lapine reinvents Hart's memoir for the stage, creating a world as vivid and transformative as the stage itself. Starring Tony Shalhoub and Andrea Martin.
